Food Plot Planted at Wagon Train SRA
The 2018 Lincoln Branch Project is now complete! This project turned out to be a three acre food plot at Wagon Train SRA, located two miles east of Hickman. The exact location of the food plot is here. We planted a brassica mix with seed supplied by Association sponsor Kaup Forage & Turf. With a number of Lincoln branch volunteers, we mowed the site, sprayed it with roundup and then acquired help from Denny McConnell who came out and no till drilled the seed in for us. Blessed with rain the following day, we should have a great plot for fall hunting. Along with hunting this area, it’s generally a great improvement on existing public land that benefits the wildlife. Follow along the Lincoln Branch Facebook page to see photos from this project.
5th Annual Lincoln Sportsmen’s Night Fast Approaching
Here before you know it!! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the 5th Annual Lincoln Sportsmen’s Night. The date is set for January 12, 2019 and is taking place at the Pla Mor Ballroom. You can go to our Facebook page or the website for purchasing tickets. With a packed house last year, this venue offers us much more room and we greatly look forward to seeing you out there.
Have an interest in being a part of our projects, banquets and more? Message us on our FB page to learn more on how you can become a volunteer. We hold monthly social gatherings on the second Wednesday of each month, where we discuss all of this and more. We’d love to have you help us grow. And don’t forget to share your outdoor adventures with us via photos. With hunting season now here, we would love to share your experiences on our page.
Happy hunting out there and don’t forget to take a kid hunting and just as important, take someone out who has never experienced hunting before. Good luck this year!
