About Us
Big Game Conservation Mission Statement
Our mission is to ensure the future of Nebraska’s big game species (Big Horn Sheep, Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Turkey, Antelope & Mountain Lion), their habitat and our hunting heritage through targeted education, research and management partnerships at the grass-roots level and beyond. With this in mind, membership is open to all who want to improve and increase the management and conservation of Nebraska’s big game resources. Not only for current but all future generations.
Members of:
Nebraska Conservation Roundtable – The Roundtable is composed of representatives from approximately two dozen organizations. Formed by the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, so that the conservation community would become a more cohesive voice. This is accomplished by creating dialogue and fostering collaboration. Not only does the Conservation Roundtable serves as a resource for policy makers. But provides solutions for issues impacting Nebraska’s fish and wildlife habitat. They have identified the primary issues facing fish, wildlife and habitat conservation in Nebraska. These issues will require a collective and collaborative effort to mitigate.
R3 Task Force – The goal is recruitment, retention and reactivation of hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts. The task force includes representatives of governmental and non-governmental wildlife resource organizations, industry partners and other stakeholders. In 2016, the task force developed a plan to increase participation in hunting and shooting sports.
