BGCA at Omaha Boat Sports and Travel Show
On February 21st, 2015 members of the Big Game Conservation Association (BGCA) volunteered to share their archery knowledge at the Omaha Boat Sports and Travel Show at the CenturyLink Center. They worked together at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) archery range manning it from 8am-3pm on Saturday. There was a really good turnout at the archery range for both young and old alike. Many of the youth waited in line several times to get another try at shooting the 3-D targets. The experience level was varied, but the smiles were just as wide and noticeable on the beginners. Several newbies walked off the range fist bumping and hi-fiving their instructors. Several requests were overheard asking for a new bow for an upcoming birthday. This is just one of the many events that the BGCA will volunteer at to educate the youth and to pay it forward. The BGCA is excited to continue their partnership with NGPC in future habitat projects and continued work on existing wildlife management area projects.
If you would like to help out at one of these events please contact us at your earliest convenience. Even if you don’t have a lot of time to share any little bit would be greatly appreciated. Besides, it doesn’t take much time to share your passion and get someone new hooked on a new sport or interest. As a non-profit group, we invite you to come out and join us at one of our fundraising banquets in the future. Your support helps to make the banquets a success and therefore allow the BGCA to continue to grow and improve the habitat for the big game animals of Nebraska.
