4th Annual Spring Sportsmen’s Night – Howells, NE

The Big Game Conservation Association (BGCA) recently held its 4th Annual Sportsmen’s Night in Howells, Nebraska and had a great turn out. We want to thank everyone that attended and also our gracious sponsors. The evening was filled with a tasty meal, guest speaker, live and silent auctions and various raffles for both young and old. There were 10 youths that won Cricket .22’s and also 25 gun wall adult winners. There were other adults that won firearms in various raffles and of course the Gun of the Year and Table Captain winners. One lucky youth left with a lifetime hunting permit.

Guest speaker, Benny Spies, from “Gun It” delighted the crowd with his hunting information and stories. He went on to say that he was supposed to have a box sent to him from his producers that he could provide to us as a donation so that we could auction off it to raise funds. However, he didn’t receive the box in time so he went out to his truck and created a donation box out of his own personal hunting items, gear and accessories. If you haven’t had the opportunity yet please watch the link to his speech as it will definitely make you laugh. Benny was a great speaker with hunting true to his heart and an obvious appreciation of his fans and the cause. Before and after his speech he was out in the crowd interacting with the attendees and their children. We fully enjoyed having Mr. Spies attend and will certainly entertain having him return in the future if scheduling allows.

Our non-profit banquets, although rewarding, can be a lot of work from the planning, organizing, set up, production, tear down and clean up for our volunteers. We really appreciate the dedication and sacrifices that our volunteers face in order to make our banquets a success. Without them and your support we wouldn’t have the assistance to achieve our goals and fund our projects. Our mission is to ensure the future of Nebraska’s big game species (Big Horn Sheep, Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Turkey, Antelope & Mountain Lion), their habitat and our hunting heritage through targeted education, research and management partnerships at the grass-roots level and beyond. We are looking to expand our reach across the state and can certainly use your help. If you are interested in getting involved email us at biggameconservation@gmail.com or call 308-293-7475. Become a BGCA member and support big game conservation in Nebraska, 100% of all funds raised stay right here! Please help us make a great organization even better with your assistance and ideas.
