The Nebraska Conservation Roundtable provided testimony at the public interim hearing held by Senator Hughes. This hearing was in August concerning Eastern Red Cedar trees. The Roundtable recognized that many individual landowners, agencies and organizations are invested. They want to control, manage and reduce eastern red cedar. However, current efforts are not sustainable and more must be done.
Since August, the Nebraska Conservation Roundtable has fallen under new leadership. Dave Sands, Executive Director of the Nebraska Land Trust, has taken the Chair with Katie Torpy, External Affairs Coordinator for The Nature Conservancy, is serving as the Vice Chair. Kristal Stoner, previously with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, had served as the Chair since the group was initiated and will still be serving in a supportive role.
